Chess report.
St Patrick's College Chess Team played their second round match against Carrick on Shannon Secondary School on Friday 31st March. It was a tight game for all the contendors with St Pat's winning the round by one table. Ronan Burke (table 3) won convincingly against Aylan Aherne. St Pat's Sean Carroll (table 1) lost his match just seconds after to Darren Mc Greevy, Carrick on Shannon. The next two matches lasted only a couple of minutes longer with Pauric Barry (table 4)loosing his match and Samuel Brady (table 2) winning his. The games were tied by the rules which state that the last table (table 4) is to be knocked off in the event of a tie. This meant that St Pat's were victorious and therefore go through to the next round. Congratulations to Sean Carroll, Samuel Brady, Ronan Burke and Pauric Barry, St Pat's. The Carrick on Shannon team included Darren Mc Greevy, Brendan Feely, Aylan Aherne and Conor Cunniffe.
