The College Crest

The upper scroll contains the words 'Coláiste Pádraig An Cabhán', written in old Irish script. This is the Irish translation of 'St Patrick's College, Cavan'. The centre of the crest consists of a bishop's crosier and mitre, taken from the crest of the diocese of Kilmore.

The lower scroll contains the words 'Ad Meliora'.
This Latin phrase is the college motto, meaning 'Towards better things'
.

This version of the college crest was digitally processed by Raymond Fadden, a past-student of the college and a native of Ballyconnell.

Raymond, who did his Leaving Cert in 1983 and completed his studies in Sligo R.T.C. and in the National College of Art and Design, now manages his own company, Fadden Design, based in Cavan Enterprise Centre.

We wish to thank Raymond for his help and co-operation in redesigning the crest
