HISTORY DEPARTMENT
History is taught as a core subject from First to Third Year and is one of the Leaving Certificate subjects available to students.
The study of History promoptes an open-minded approach, an awareness of diversity and a respect for people of other cultures, languages and religions. The skills acquired by history students include the development of critical thinking, the ability to construct a convincing argument and the ability to carry out detailed research on any given topic.
Students of History in St Patrick's College have access to a vast array of information from specialist books to primary sources and documents, in addition to an extensive documentary library.
History invites us to question, analyse and observe the world in which we live. It encourages lively debate and promotes investigation.
