There are many opportunities to take part in group-musoc activities within the college. There is the College Orchestra, Jazz Band, Recorder Ensemble choir and traditional Irish group who perform regularly in public concerts and College functions. The college has its own instrumental scholarship scheme whereby students
who wish to study an orchestral instrument can have this instrument supplied
to them free of charge for the duration of their studies. The music department has two choirs, a two part soprano/alto choir and a four part TTBB choir. Those groups have performed on Lyric FM, local radio stations, Nationwide and venues such as the National Concert Hall, Dublin and the Ulster Hall, Belfast. |

| One of the favourite events of the year is the collaboration with a girls choie. Recent joint concerts have included the choirs of Loreto and Alexandra Colleges, Armagh Girl Singers, Enchiradis Treis and the Cavan Singers. Senior choir members are offered a place in Cavan Youth Choir who recently recorded a CD of Christmas music. | |||||||||||||

All these activities contribute to a sense of fun and achievement and also are of valuable training experience in exams at junior and leaving certificate level. Plans are being prepared at present to offer an organ scholarship to students wishing to study the organ. The college chapel has a two manual tracker action organ and has a reputation for training young organists The Organ Scholar of St Patrick's College, Maynooth, is a former student of this school. Details on this scholarship will be posted on this website later in the year. A staff of seven tuitors and the head of department are dedicated to the musical development of all their students in an encourging manner.
